Hi, my name is Tony. My father’s family is spread between Collores De Juana Diaz and Villalba. My fathers name was Felix Negron Torres and he was born in Juana Diaz, P.R. in 1922. His parents name were Jose Isabel Negron and Antonia Torres de Jesus, both from Juana Diaz. My grandfather had two brothers, Agripino and Mingo Negron. My grandmother has some brothes and sisters; however, I don’t know their names. I know for fact that she was a cousin of Luis Lloren Torres, the poet.
They us to reside at the Valle De Collores, close to the elementary school were my father assisted, I think they use to called “La Capital” de Collores (The Capitol). My father has two brothers and one sister, Jose Luis, Agripino and Antonia (Fifa).
Other members of the family, as I recall the names, are; Juan Torres, use to own a provision store in Collores, Salvador Torres, cardiologist, Gilberto Torres, Ophthalmologist, Jose Torres, Engineer, Ortencia, Calin, Lidia and some others that I don’t remember.
The Negron’s and Torres, some how became one family, they were very strong tides between this two names. It’s also my understanding that Villaba home some of the Negron Torres family members, but I never meat that many. I do remember Carlos Negron, he was the student body coordinator for the Catholic University of Puerto Rico, and I also remember Sergio Negron, who was in broadcasting for many years.
One thing that I have always wanted to know is the origin of the Negron name. Not to long ago my daughter ask me about the origin of my name, but I was not able to respond. Perhaps some one of you may have the explanation and will shared with me.
