I have been researching my husband's genealogy and I came across your message regarding the Nehring family. My husband's grandmother's maiden name is Nehring. She is about to turn 95 years young (b: Mar 30 1910 in Missouri). She was one of three children born to Theodore Nehring (b: Feb 23 1882 in Illinois).Theodore Nehring was the third of eight children born to William Frederic (Frederich) Nehring (b: June 1849).
From what I have been able to ascertain, William immigrated to the U.S. in 1851 with his parents and a sister. The only corresponding records I have been able to find, lists the following Nehrings on the ship Carl E Hermann from Germany 1851.
The youngest passenger, W. Nehring I believe is William Nehring. The above immigration record seems to correspond and collaborate the information recorded on the 1900 Fed Census, Dover Township, Vernon County Missouri for William.I am uncertain when this side of the Nehring Family moved to Missouri, but all but his eighth and last child was born in Illinois.
I also believe that F.G. Nehring is Gottlieb Johann Federich Nehring or Federich Gottlieb Nehring. It seems our German ancestry like to mix around their names.
Based on the above, it is highly probable that your Wiehelmine Nehring is our William Nehring's sister.
I hope that this message reaches you.I know that the date of your posting was July 2001.But hopefully it does and perhaps the last several years you have been able to find additional information that might confirm the above.
