Something just occurred to me!Chuck, are you the son of Charles? My great-grandmother often spoke of Charles, but I don't believe I've ever met him.
In addition I just wanted to make a sidenote that it's interesting one of the original spellings of Neiderhiser was Nitterhizer, because where I grew up (Champion, PA) that is EXACTLY how they pronounce it there! It used to bug me to death, but now I think it's almost humorous!I'm also wondering why in Neiderhiser the "e" is pronounced instead of the "i".Isn't the correct German way to pronounce the second vowel? Because of this error, I have lived a life of constant correction in the pronounciation of the name.I've heard it all... Nitterhizer, Niderhiser, Needlenoser, Nidershizer, Niederhauser... the list goes on and on and on and on... it almost makes me eager to get married for no other reason than the name change!!Maybe it would be easier being a Smith or a Jones....
