George Clayton Neill is listed as son of James Neill/Hannah Clayton. I don't think there is any doubt but that he WAS the son of James and Hannah. HOWEVER, I have never seen the documentation, which I very much desire. James Neill gave land to sons, Alexander, Andrew, Samuel, William, James and John L. I have copy of abstracts of land deeded to Alexander and Andrew by James "by his Last Will and Testament and contained in the eighth item of said will..." in 1834 in Bedford Co., TN. But I have not been able to find his giving George Clayton or his daughter Mary who m. Newton Ewing any land or anything otherwise. I believe the will is not extant as there was a fire in the courthouse in Bedford Co. and possibly his will burned.
Another question: George Clayton Neill married a Nancy Ellison -- sometimes referred to as "Amanda Nancy Ellison" I know that whe used the name "Nancy" but have not seen the use of "Amanda." Can anyone comment?
