Looking for NEISWONGER, NISWONGER, NYSWANGER, etc. family line.
JOHN NISWONGER (b.1786 VA) and wife ELIZABETH CIRCLE (b 1789 VA) settled in Clay Township, Montgomery County OHIO about 1807.Ages and place of birth verified by census and biographies in Darke County OH history books.
I know there are several lines claiming these people on Ancestry.com, but some go in different directions. So, something is not right there.
Their decendents in OH were members of the "Dunkard Brethern" Church.I don't know if this came after the family arrived in America or if they were part of the group seeking religious freedom who emigrated 1729 and later.
History book articles, say they were of German decent, one says from Holland.Family note says that the "NEI" at the beginning of the name was changed to "NI" when a NEISWONGER who was Jewish, married a Christian (maybe person named KEYSER)
