"Nelson Roots Supplement" covers earliest Carteret Co., NC Nelsons, from Capt. John Nelson Jr., arriving in Bath Co., NC 1702.It included his father Judge John Nelson, John Nelson Jr.'s wife Ann A. and three daughters of Judge John Nelson, Joan, Elizabeth & Mary. This is evidenced by Beaufort Co., Deed Book 1 and by "Ship Passenger List, the South (1538-1825)" by Carl Boyer III, published in 1979, p. 127.From land grants of 12 rights, or 600 acres, it is assumed there were 12 passengers on Capt. John Nelson's ship. The focus of the book was descendants of Joseph Nelson Sr. md Abigail Stiron (Styron).Their descendants are in "Nelson Roots", Vols. 1 & 2.
Most of Joseph Nelson/Abigail Stiron's descendants removed from Nelson's/Stiron's Bay, Ocracoke Island, NC; most overland, some by sea, first to Marengo Co., AL, then to the Mobile, Alabama area. Those known to have gone overland by wagon train included surnames NELSON, BISHOP, FULFORD, WALLACE, STIRON (STYRON)

There apparently was an early effort, before Mr. Chadickemployed a professional genealogist (unfortunately no credit given in "Nelson Roots Supplement") to link Capt. John Nelson to Alfred Lord Nelson. As Lord Nelson fathered only one putative child, an illegitimate daughter, this effort was abandoned.
