James NeSmith, 74 TELL CITY-James William 'Jack' NeSmith, 74, died at 11:03 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 1996, at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro, Ky. A native of Owensboro, he was born Nov. 20, 1921, the son of the late Jack and Carrienda (Leonard) Harmon. He united in marriage March 2, 1973, to the former Mary Rita Jarboe. He was a World War II Army veteran with service in the 746th AAA Gun Battalion, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 2939 and a member of the Catholic Knights of America. He worked for the Perry County Highway Department and retired as a security guard fo I&M Power Plant in Rockport. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Mary Rita; a daughter, Sandy DeLacey of Owensboro; a son, Randy NeSmith of Owensboro; two brohers, Elbert NeSmith of Owensboro and Charles NeSmith of Colonial Heights, Va.; a sister, Hazel Baird of Philpot, Ky.; six grandchildren, Robin Singletary, Bill, John Eric, Jason and Guy Anthony DeLacey and April Moutning; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (today) at St. Paul Catholic Church, Tell City.The Rev. Tony Hubler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Tell City, where the VFW Post 2939 will conduct military services. Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, Tell City, was in charge of arrangements, where a parish prayer service was held Sunday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
