Finally we have a NEVERMANN /NEVERMAN forum! I am anxious to hear from anyone interested in the genealogy of this surname. My husband's great grandfather was Frederick Franz Nevermann who according to his immigration papers, was born in Zahrenstorf, Germany about 1838 and immigrated in the year of 1866 landing at the port of New York on or about the month of April. It is believed that he lived in the State of New York for two years prior to moving to the State of Wisconsin. He married Louise Wilhelmina Schulz at St. Stephen's Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 9, 1870. According to his wife's obituary, she was born in Stettin, Germany, July 6, 1848 and came to this country in 1868.The couple then moved to Peshtigo, Wisconsin where they survived the Great Peshtigo Fire and raised two sons, August and Paul.It has been told to me that August and Paul dropped the second n at the end of their surname as a matter of convenience.
