Your message caught my eye as I am also a Nickell decendent through John's daughter Suzanne who married Benjamin Lewis in about 1768.(daughter through 2nd wife Barbara McCombe)and also through Isaac Nickell, (John's son from first wife ? Lewis)whose daughter Anne married Benjamin and Susannahs son Andrew in 1805.(Not uncommon in those days for "cousins" to marry)I visited Nickell's Mill and took pictures of the old house on the hill overlooking the mill in 2001 when my brother and I were checking out the old Lewis stomping grounds where Muddy Creek enters the Greenbrier River. On a trip to the UK last year I took a side trip to Gortin, while trying to run down my Northern Ireland roots,to see where John came from. Still have lots of questions about life in Gortin with the Nickell's and also life in Mason/Greenbrier with the Lewis' and Nickell's. but feel I have at least soaked up the atmosphere where they lived.
