Sharon, I have made some discoveries re my Nemire family, but I don't think they will help you.I will post the important part here:
1855 Census, Vestal, Broome Co., New York Nemire, Christian, 45, born Scholarie Co., NY Nemire, Hannah, 45, wife, born Scholarie Co., NY Nemire, John, 16, born Scholarie Co., NY Nemire, Simon, 14, born Scholarie Co., NY Nemire, Mary, 14, born Scholarie Co., NY Nemire, Chester, 11, born Otsego Co., NY Nemire, Hannah,8, born Scholarie Co., NY
Christian may have had a brother because in 1865: Union, Broome Co., New York ther is Henry, 54, born in Albany, NY and Eliz, 44, wife, born in Scholarie with an adapted daughter Mary also born in Albany.
My direct connection is to Christian's son, Simon. Some of Christian's children could, and probably did move west, but I don't have any way of knowing this at this time and I haven't run across a Conrad yet.Have you tried to get a copy of Conrad's death certificate.Try the county where he died, they would have a record at the Court House or County Clerk's office.I found the parents of another ancestor on her death certificate from early 1900's.Every little clue helps.
