I am sure this is the most unlikly part of the globe that you can expect any connection with John Niggli.
An email I sent you was returned undelivered.
I amfrom India now settled in UK. Many many years ago I had the opportunity to go through our Nigli Family tree.It was in the form a book compiled by a Nigli who is now no more. In the last 2 weeks a nephew of mine has been going through the motion of re incarnating that family tree on the www. Therefore I did aninternet search looking to update the tree not looking for ancestors and came up with your message. There is probably no connection except for 2 factors.
The first is, that the introduction to our family tree says that 'Nigli' wasoriginally spelt as 'NIGGLI'.
The second is, that the names John and Caroline also appear as our earliest ancestors. It is well known that people do give names of their grand/great grand parents to their progeny. So I thought that this might have some connection with your John Niggli.
I am pasting the introduction to our family tree below for your perusal. I am the great grand daughter of the John Nigli featured below who obviously is not the John Niggli you are searching for.
"Research reveals accounts about how the first Nigli set foot in India around the early part of the 19th century (1830s). These accounts by the elders in the Nigli family, recount how one Francis Nigli, an Italian, landed on the west coast of India in what is now the State of Kerala. He was a member of a group, which included two Catholic bishops. They landed at a village called Purakkad near Allepey. Francis Nigli however, did not return to Italy with the others in his group. He settled in the then State of Travancore and eventually married one Ms. Lopez from the village of Kayamkulam. They had six children: five sons and one daughter. To the best of the knowledge of our elders, all the Niglis in India are the descendants of these six children. The name Nigli it seems was originally spelt as‘NIGGLI’ and pronounced ‘NEELY’.
Below is the beginning of the Nigli tree, which today spreads across the globe.
Francis Nigli (Spouse: Nee: Lopez)
George Nigli
John Nigli
Thomas Nigli
Joseph Nigli
Caroline Nigli
Francis Nigli
