Obituary - Mrs.Mary Ann Nimrick dies at the home of her daughter
Mrs Mary Ann Nimrick, who has resided in Richland Grve Township practically all her life, died Sunday morning at 2:35 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Flora Hummel, 1728 Fifth Ave., Rock Island.She was past 87 years old at the time of her death.Her last illness dated from June 25, when she suffered a paralytic stroke. She had been at the home of her daughter in Rock Island for three weeks.
Mrs Nimrick whose maiden name was Mary Ann Allen, was born in Richland Grove Township May 22, 1850.She was married to Perry Nimrick, a civil war veteran, March 15, 1872.He preceded her in deatha number of years ago.One daughter Mrs. Steve Trego also preceded her in death.The survivors are one daughter Mrs. Flora Hummel of Rock Island; Newton and David who live at home south-east of Sherrard; Levi of Geneseo and Cyrus of Henderson, Ill.
Mrs. Nimrick became a member of Plainfield U.B. Church located east of where the village of Sherrard was located.The date of her becoming a member was Feb 1, 1871.Her husband united with the church at the same time, though that was before their marriage and he later became Sunday school superintendent. Mrs. Nimrick was probably the last of civil war widows in Richland Grove Township.
Furneral services were held tTuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home southeast of Sherrard with Rev C. E. Hoff of East Moline in charge.
Interment was in West Swedona cemetery.
Singers were Mr and Mrs Albert Nelson with Mrs. G. Peterson accompanist.
