Tonia,Thank you for your reply to my query. My husband's Nimmons line came to America 1770's and lived in Barnwell & Bamberg Co, SC untill 1920.The 1st William Nimmons and his son Andrew b-1756 Ireland fought in Rev. War in SC. I have not been able to find the port they came in to.I have seen quite a lot of info on the Nimmons of Ill.but have not found any connection to our line, I am sure they must have been some where back in Ireland.Have you seen the book "Bowen, Field, Nimmons, & Kindred Families"by Nora Daniza Nimmons Field?I have found there are a lot of errors in it (she has our line extinct in SC) but from some info in it I was able to find clues to follow and prove that it was not. If I remember, there were Nimmons who settled in Penn, New York, Ill, & Ind. plus the ones who settled in SC and GA. There are 2 lines in SC, ours and Nora's but I have not been able to prove how we are connected. I know our 1st ancestor to come here was William Nimmons & in Nora's books she states her 1st ancestor was a William Nimmons but do not know if they are the same.
