DORCHESTER - Clarence O. Nitz, 96, of Dorchester died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
He was born April 1, 1910, in New Douglas, the son of William and Edna Kelly Nitz. He married Olga Broers in 1935 in Gillespie; she preceded him in death.
Mr. Nitz was a retired auto body repairman for Quality Pontiac in Alton. He was former mayor of Dorchester.
He was president of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dorchester, charter member of the Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department and member of National Quarter House Association.
Survivors: brother, William Nitz of East Alton; three sisters, Eileen Desart and Bessie Katich, both of Gillespie, and Irene Elliston of Charlotte, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; and companion, Cleta Ursch of East Alton.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. John's Lutheran Church, Dorchester, the Rev. Patty Heath officiating. Burial: Bunker Hill Cemetery.
