J. H. Nixon Dies Sunday At Goshen J. H. (Poney) Nixon "no age" [77 years old] died Sunday at 5:15 am after a short illness at his home in Goshen. He was a faithful member of the Baptist church, and a Mason. He served as postmaster at Goshen for 37 years and had a large circle of relatives and friends who will regret to hear of his death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nora Nixon, two sons, L. C. Nixon of Goshen: Logan Nixon of Washington, D. C.: two daughters, Mrs. A. L. Johnson and Miss Oline Nixon of Goshen: one half-brother, R. L. Jordan [Robert Lee Jordan] of Headland: three half-sisters, Mrs. C. L. Eiland [Minnie E. Jordan] of Goshen: Mrs. J. A. Mathis [Addie Corine Jordan] of Dozier: Mrs. W. P. Johnson [Emma E. Jordan] of Haines City, Fla., and a host of other relatives. Funeral was held from the home in Goshen today (Monday) at 2 pm with the Rev. W. T. Davison officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the Elam cemetery with Rhodes Funeral Home in charge. Active pallbearers were: J. T. Robinson, W. H. Weed, J. E. Jernigan, S. G. Floyd, S. B. Gibson and W. D. Folmar.
John Henry Nixon born 16 September 1859 as “Theophilus”--later his name was changed to John Henry. Died 20 December 1936.
