Fairly new in my research of my Noble ancestors (pun intended). My gg-grandparents were John Noble and Mary (Nixon), through their daughter Mary Alice Noble.Mary Alice married Richard Gilder, who died 1882 in Donaldson, Michigan (Upper Peninsula, near Sault St. Marie). While researching Richard's death information, I was made aware that there were two grave markers for John Noble in the Donaldson cemetery:
JOHN NOBLE Oct. 6, 1891 82 yrs. Native of Co. Fermanagh, Ireland JOHN NOBLE Sep. 29, 1881 72 yrs. 5 mos. Native of Co. Tipperary, Ireland
The woman who transcribed this cemetery pointed this out, and asked whether one marker might actually be for John's wife.I did the math, and both persons buried in Donaldson were born approximately 1811 - so far, so good.Next, Five Mile Town (county Tyrone, Ireland) is literally on the border with county Fermanagh - so the birthplace for one of them is essentially correct. In all the family trees, I've never seen hard documentation of the dates/places of John and Mary's death - supposedly in Dufferin and/or Ontario.Lastly, I see no certain Canadian census records for John and Mary, after 1871.Thoughts, anyone?
