Notes for THOMAS NORFOLK:
According to the List of Early Settlers in the Hal of Records at Annapolis, Maryland, Thomas Norfolk came to St Mary's County, Marland on the ship Bristol in 1663 and was transported to Calvert county in 1668.He had taken up 100 acres of the Ridge abd similar amounts were clained by Henery Cox and William Ireland.He settled on the North side of Hunting Creek near Hunting, Maryland.Thomas Norfolk had a son, John Norfolk, who appears on the tax list of 1733 as a resident of Lyons Creek Hundred.In 1681 John Norfolk and John Leach were granted lands on the same area called Peahens Nest.The Norfolk family intermarried into such families as Cox, Leach, Gibson, Lawrencce, Ireland and Hardesty.Many younger sons left Calvert County and went west.

John Norfolk is listed in the Debt Book of 1753.He was then owner of Kidds Level, Island Plains and Cox's Refuge, all tracts just north of the site of old Huntingtown, Maryland.John Norfolk II was followed by his sons John Norfolk III and Thomas Norfolk.They are listed on the Tax List of 1782 as the owners of the of lands formerly possessed by their father.

Thomas Norfolk relocated from Calvert County, Maryland to Washington County, Pennsylvannia shortly after 1810 and was stilled listed on the census of 1830 as living in Notingham township, Washington County, Pennsylvannia. Thomas and Mary Norfolk had sons named Alexander, Lewis H. and John Norfolk.Mary Norfolk and her son John Norfolk were sroll living in Nottingham twonship, Pennsylvannia in 1850.

Notes for LOUIS H. NORFOLK:
Lewis H. Norfolk and his wife Eleanor moved to Baldwin township, Pennslyvannia prior to 1850 and he was a school teacher.They lived in this town until the summer of 1864 when they then relocated to Elizabeth, Pennsylvannia.Theyhad four daughters and adopted their grandson (William Elmer Norfolk son of Anne Elizabeth Norfolk) and raised him as their own.
