I am a descendant of Jeremiah and Martha Priestly/Presley Norred.I am also a professional genealogist, and beginning to document this line of my family. My paternal grandmother is Josephine Modgling Coker. We are the Texas Connection. It is clear from all census records for Jeremiah Norred, that he did not come with Martha to Texas.Family records from members in Texas state that he died in Obion Co, TN, and Martha died in Blanco County and is buried in Comanche Creek Cemetery, with her children and grandchildren.I would love to know WHY Martha left old Jeremiah in TN.He appears to have married at least once more on the census, maybe twice. But he is still living in Stewart County in 1850's at an advanced age of 78. Also, why would Martha leave 3 small children in TN?I have seen a list of Jeremiah and Martha children from old researchers, such as Joan Buck de Korte, as follows: Larkin Presley Norred, b. 30 May 1794 NC William Norred, b ca 1796 Samuel Norred, b. ca 1797 Mary Rebecca Norred, b. 19 Dec 1802 [My gggg grandmother] Jeremiah Norred, b. ca 1812 Edward Norred, b. ca 1814 Andrew Norred, b. 1815
Why is there a 10-year span in time between the births of Mary Rebecca and Jeremiah, Edward, and Andrew? This would be highly unusual for the early 1800's. From TN deed and tax records, it appears that Jeremiah did not go to another country for 10 years, and he is still there in 1816 for the probate of his father's estate.Could these 3 children belong to a different Mother, but have Jeremiah as father? Martha left Jeremiah around 1818-1820 with the first 4 of her children, Larkin went to MO, William and Rebecca went to AR/LA/TX, and Samuel is found in LA.Is it possible that she only had 4 children?
Can ANYONE shed some light on this MYSTERY?
Does anyone have a Bible with documentation for their children or MARRIAGE or DIVORCE?
