"John Notter formerly of Rock island in the County of Cork but now residing at the township of Thurlow in the Victoria District" The above is from an indenture concerning Richard Notter of Rock Island's Estate. John Notter was replaced as an executor because he had emigrated. The document is dated 12 July 1849. I believe John Notter was a brother of Richard Notter who was a significant landlord in West Cork from 1816 until his death in 1852. A John Notter had married a Mary McMullen as per Marriage Licence Bonds, Diocese of Cork and Ross in 1835. I may have noted the first name incorrectly. The above Canadian address however does not seem to make sense as the only "Thurlow District" is located in Hastings County, Ontario. Any ideas? Any further info on this John Notter and his family gratefully appreciated.
