My name is Pat Novak Nelson, my grandparents came to this country in May, 1903, and were Joseph and Julia Novak. We know nothing about their families or exactly where they were from as they spoke German and their children spoke English. They had 12 children, the oldest three were born in or near Placitz, Yugoslavia: Mary, Elisbeth and Louis. The rest born in America around Turtle Lake, Wi. and were: Nickolas, Joseph, Rose, John, Julia, Henry, Frank, Frieda and Barbara. They farmed. Grandpa and my Father used to say they were part Czech, part Hungarian, part German, or Bohemian. My Grandmother Julia's maiden name is something like Bergermeister or Beiglemeier.
The reason I am writing you is because my aunt, Frieda Novak recently mentioned visiting relatives in Michigan when she was young. So I am now going through old logs to find Novak type entries from Michigan.
Any chance you and your family are the relatives in Michigan?
