Mrs. Eliza Hinkle
The funeral for Mrs. Eliza Hinkle, 85, who died Thursday at the home of her grandson, Lyle Patterson, 600 Gratton street, will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday from Penwell’s chapel.Burial in Burlingame, Kan., cemetery.
Mrs. Hinkle was born in Martinsburg, O., April 26, 1849, and had been a resident of Topeka thirty-two years.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Bud Jernigan, Osage City; Mrs. Ernest Hatfield, Cortez, Colo.; Mrs. James Foster, Topeka; Mrs. Homer Jones, Reading, and Mrs. James Reynolds, Topeka; two sons, John, of Harper, Ore., and George, of Swink, Colo., and twenty-six grandhchildren.
Obituary from Burlingame, Kansas Enterprise-Chronicle, 12/1/1921:
"The burial of George Hinkle Sr, for many years a resident of the lower Dragoon neighborhood, occurred in the Burlingame cemetery on Monday, Nov28.Mr Hinkle had resided in Topeka since about 1904.For the past several months he had been in very poor health and his death occurred on Friday, Nov. 25.
George Hinkle was born in Millersburg, Holmes county, Ohio, March 6,1851.His marriage to Eliza Nowels occurred on March 12, 1870.To this union nine children were born, two preceeding in death, Mrs. Mary Patterson and Charles.The mother and the following children survive:John of Mountain Home, Idaho; George, Delta, Colo.; Mrs, Budd Jernigan,Osage City, Kans.; Mrs. E. E. Hatfield, Center Colo.; Mrs. Homer Jones, Reading,Kans.; Mrs. James R. Foster and Mrs. James Reynolds of Topeka.Also 28 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and a host of neighbors and friends.
Rev. Quilliam had charge of the burial service."
