There were at least two Bryan(Bryant ?)Ward Nowlins before the two you mention.
The oldest was in Pittsylvania County, Virginia when it was formned ijn 1766 from Halifax. The "Ward" name probably links them to the Ward family there.
His son, BWN, Jr. married Lucy Bennett.
It was probably the latter BWN who owned land adjoining that of John Goad in ca 1785 Sullivan County, Tenn (still N.Car. then). John Goad from Pittsylvania County was an uncle to Gen. John Sevier, first governor of Tennessee.
