I happened upon your message--I have veen researching John M. Nowling's family (my greatgrandfather) for many years but had not known about you. (Incidentally, regarding where John M. is buried: he is buried in a marked grave in Milton Cemetery, Santa Rosa Co, FL. His wife Tobitha Ann Missouri Johnson--"Bytha" on her tombstone--is buried in Jay Cemetery). Back to John: he was never strong, my dad said, and died of pneumonia when he was in his early 40s. My grandfather, King David was four when his father John died, and his youngest brother, Will, was a baby. With the help of the oldest child, Peter (Pete)--[The name "Peter" is tricky: both John and his brother Wm. I(som) had sons named Peter, both born in Santa Rosa Co and both near the same age].Anyway, Peter was an enterprising young man and so was his mother; in the 1885 state census, she is listed as a log hauler--I wish I could have known her.
My name is Gaylier Nowling Miller; my dad was Arlie Edwin Nowling (1915-1998). I was born in 1937 and my brother in 1943. E-mail me something about Martha Violet's family; I would really like to add that to my information. --Incidentally, I have a grandson named Aaron (he's 30); we never knew there was another Aaron among our relatives. --Though we've moved around a bit, for some years, for many years now, I've lived here within sight of where my dad was born almost 100 years ago.
