Looking for any information on Lewis Nuckolls of Louisa Co., Va., whose father was William Nuckolls and mother, Henrietta Terry. He was born in approximately 1786, married Eliza C. Madison in 1815, and died in 1847.
Am actually more interested in any available information on Eliza C. Madison, wife of Lewis Nuckolls.Am hopeful that such information and/or sources of such info. may provide clues to the identy of her mother.
What we do know about her is that she was one of four children of Ambrose Madison, originally of King William Co., later of Louisa Co.Her three other siblings were Parkes B., Anne Parkes (my third great grandmother), and Cynthia Madison, all children of a presumed first marriage.
There almost appears to be a complete and total information "black out" regarding anything remotely related to Ambrose Madison and his presumed first marriage, and the identity of his first wife and the mother of Parkes B., Anne Parkes, Eliza C., and Cynthia Madison remains an unsolved mystery. We are looking for additional information on either Lewis Nuckolls and/or Eliza C. Madison, his wife, in hopes that any extant records- birth, marriage (we have their Louisa Co. marriage bond, but, regretably, it reveals virtually nothing, other than the date of 20 Jun. 1815, William Dickinson as surety, and the Rev. William Cooke as the presiding minister), the record of any children, deaths, wills, burials, obituaries, bibles, land deeds, tax and/or census records, etc. - might provide some clues as to the true identity of Eliza's mother (Ambrose Madison's presumed first wife).
