My grandfather's account of his father's death was he was killed in a train wreck. While looking for his obit. in Petersburg paper, found instead a three day story after the headline ENGINEER KILLED.Originally thought to be a suicide, it was determined by the coroner to be a homicide.Waverly Blanks was arrested for inflicting a gunshot wound to the heart of George W. Nunnally causing his death instantly on June 27th, 1912.
JT MORRISS & sons have the same info. and the death certificate I've since obtained lists death as homicide as well.
Since I find Waverly Blanks living with his wife and children in the 1920 census, I wonder what was the final determination. It would seem unlikely to me that he would be out of jail if he was convicted of the crime.
What resources could I try for further info? Can anyone do a look-up of these records?Would the court house have them? Thank-you for any assistance
