Peter Neustrom is buried in Danbury, Iowa at St Patrick's Cemetery. One of his sons, William, was my greandfather and one his sons, Wayne, was my father. I was not aware that the surname was originally spelled "Nystrum". I had heard stories that Peter had been thrown by a horse and was paralyzed. One of his daughters, Josephine, was a nurse in Sioux City and is listed in the 1914 Sioux City directory. My father died when I was 5, so I did not grow up knowing much family history. As of 2/9/07, I have contacted and am close to Willis, who is 80 and lives in Hamilton, MT, and Tom, who lives in Cherokee, Iowa. Leroy (Roy) lives in California and John (Jackie), who was sent to live with relatives in California after his mother died of pneumonia about 1 month after he was born, still lives there. I was lucky to know their two sisters, Pat (Cherokee, IA) and Maureen (Louisiana) before they died. Owen and Charles died when younger. There were 9 children in their family. I visted the Neustrom family plot in Danbury last summer for the first time. Their former farm site is apparently about 2 miles north of town in a valley.
