Which Henry is yours?I can't believe there are so many of them.:-) Do you know anymore about him -birth date, death date, where he is buried, where his will is, etc?I have the wills for John Christian, and John George Oberdorf, but have not yet located Henry's, or even know that he had one for sure.I don't know where he lived, I don't even know for certain that he was John Christian Oberdorf's father.
I have a will for Henry Overturf, his son is Samuel. It was on file at the Union County courthouse. He leaves his estate - property in Allenwood that he spells out detailed boundried for in his will - to his grandchildren, but does not name my John Christian, only a Robert (whom he later removes from the will, but I don't know why.In the codecil he revokes Roberts power of attorney in a matter of a lawsuit about property..it's an interesting will ) I can scan it for you if you would like.
Anyway, the grandchildren he mentions are Robert, Johathon, and "Clara intermarried with Jonathon Fisher", his great grandaughter Elizabeth Fisher, and his son Samuel. The will was filed 1886.It's possible, I guess, that this is my Henry (John Christian was born 1826, 60 years before this will was filed) and that he simply favored one set of grandhcildren and ignored all the rest of his family.. but it seems unlikely.
I have the will of another Henry, deceased 1795, here: http://hether72.tripod.com/obwills.htmhttp://hether72.tripod.com/obwills.htm
I think this might be the uncle of the Henry I am looking for - but I really don't know yet.
and yesterday I found the tombstone for Henry G in Mifflinburg cemetery 1829-1913.again, my John Christian was born1826..so they could be brothers. But I have nothing that suggests that. They could be cousins, strangers..I don't know!:-)
