Bob: Saw your posting to Robyn re: Benjamin Oborn born in Shepton Mallet.I am hoping you have some sources in that area as my gggg-grandfather, William Oborne, was born (1781) and lived nearby, at Barton-St.-David.On Dec.29, 1806, he married Martha Rawling (b. 1785).Their son, James Oborne (b.Dec. 6, 1806, baptized Apr.14,1808) married Mary Young (b. June 10, 1807 in Glastonbury)on Mar. 30, 1828.In 1831, they came to Canada (Quebec)with their son John (b.Sept.9,1828 in Barton-St. David). Most of the Obornes in Canada are descended from this couple and we have most of them 'logged'.However, other than the fact that the Oborne antecedents in Somerset were teasil farmers (for carding wool), we have made no progress in going back further. Can you find a likage to other ancestors or descendents, or provide some direction?
