Wow, thank you so much, Wbh. You really nailed this one. Also, I see that Dovie's grandfather John Odom was born in NC, which makes me think he could have been a member of my extended Odom family. My Odoms first came to Nansemond Co., VA, in the 1660s, but spent most of the 1700s in NC, starting in Chowan and Bertie Counties and ending in Edgecombe County in the 1790s. My particular branch then went into Marlboro Co., SC, and from there to points south, but some branches are known to have moved to TN. I see that Dovie had 2 brothers in the 1910 Polk Co., OR, Census. I certainly would like to find a male-line descendant of one of these brothers for Y chromosome DNA testing to see if they are indeed of my Odom line.
