Your husband's grandfather James Elbert Oiler was born 1891?When did he die?Do you have his Death Certificate or an obit?I didn't find him on-line 1913-1937 in Death Certificates of Ohio Historical Society.
I did find Missouri Oiler's DC #60791 in 1923, in Knox County.Haven't looked at the DC but suspect that Missouri's name is so unique this has to be her.
Regards Onegreatfamily....since that is a subscribe only database of folks who enter data, which may or may not be proven, I didn't get a chance to look at it.Other free donated sites are www.gencircles.comand www.rootsweb.com and search on family name.Anyway...James is a common name and so someone may have connected to the "wrong" James.I have had that happen in the Scurlock line.
Anyway....divorce, if that is what happened folks don't talk about it.Look on the Oiler genforum website for Dorene...she has done lots of research in Gallia Co and may have now found out if there was a divorce.Sometimes when families suddenly "move" it's for economic or domestic reasons...so see if you can find out how/why they are in Cincinnati....It may add interesting info to your family history.
Of Missouri's first family...she reportedly had 5 children...only one of the children have I semi-proved by finding the grandson of Missouri that names his mother's first name (not maide) that matches a child of Missouri....Haven't had time to track the others down...Really looking for a different Geer line of Missouri's husband but I kept straying in to other lines and particularly liked the Oiler's because 6 brothers served in the Civil War and they were all in the 27th OVI as were my Scurlocks.
Which to believe? Documents, documents, documents.I have the marriage of Missouri & first husband...now with Missouri's DC#, I'll eventually get it on one of my many trips to Columbus. Thanks for the date.I have Missouri s 2nd Marriage but what is missing is James that died in 1907 and is buried in Franklin Cemetery--what WAS his middle initial. You can write to the courthouse at Gallia Co (Vital Records)...send them a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) and request info on his DEATH (no parents will probably be listed for 1907) and send them 50 cents...I think that is the amount. If not, they will tell you.Or put a query on the www.rootsweb.com/~ohgalliapage.All of those require http://http:// in front of the www.
Best of luck.If you have James death date or obit I would appreciate it.
