I know it's a while since you posted your various messages but I have just come across the name of OKEY in my family tree, and wonder if we are related.
Reseaching the OKEY name brought up the name of Colonel John OKEY who I believe is a relative of yours.A very colourful man!!
My ancestor, Thomas SALMON, Merchant Taylor of London, but born in Cheshire married Elizabeth OKEY in about 1626.I I believe that Elizabeth was the sister of Col. John OKEY of some relative.
Their son John SALMON married the daughter(name unknown) of the Vicar of HACKENY a Dr. Calybutt DOWNING.I beleive that a Sir George DDOWNING was his son.
I have also read that Col. John OKEY fled to Germany after the Civil war but was caught and arrested by the Ambassador of the Netherlands .. Sir George DOWNING... I bet that caused a family feud!!!
Are these your relatives and if so can you help with some dates etc to fill in the gaps.
The forebears of myancestor Thomas SALMON have quite an interesting history, having come to Cheshire from Normandy and acquired their lands there through an exchange with Ranulph de Blundeville in 1222.Ranulph was Earl of Chester and a relative of William the Conquerer.
