Chris - Not sure if you have seen the grave of Marion Oldaker at Fladbury, as I know when we were there we didn't find it. By what I remember of Arthur Oldaker's writings she was "close by" to the graves of George & Fanny and their children, which is on the left side of St John the Baptist.
I haven't seen her name appear in the M.I's for this churchyard, so maybe the inscription has worn or the headstone has gone.
Hi Chris - I believe you may be right about the two wives being sisters. It is interesting to note though that Arthur Oldaker listed wife number one as - Marion Sussannah LUDINOOK in his work, which is possibly a typo or the way Arthur has read the name from the Register.
A firm possibility that it was LUDBROOK.

Well spotted, Doug !
And then he next married Louisa LUDBROOK (aged 22), on 10 August 1861 at The Register Office in Islington (it says on the MC here). I believe Louisa was Marion's sister.
Arthur Oldaker listed the wives of George Frederick Oldaker within his work, calling the first wife Marion Sussannah Oldaker. Most researchers have her as Susanna Oldaker nee Ludbrook and we all know who she is by that name.
On page one of The Times, Tuesday, Sep 13, 1859 there is mention of her death - here is a transcript -
On Sunday the 11th Inst, at 40 Florence Street, Islington, aged 24, Marion, the beloved wife of George Frederick Oldaker.
So there you are - Marion Sussannah Oldaker it is.
Thanks for posting.
I confess to being far from the best placed person to give you the information you seek. I am in the UK and have little knowledge about descendants of the third marriage of George Frederick OLDAKER (to Emmeline Annis Paget SWEENEY, about 1884). But if you persevere reading through the old postings on this bulletin board you will glean quite a few facts about his third marriage and descendants. Beyond that, there is available elsewhere a wealth of information about his ancestors way back into the 1500s if you wish to go that far back. The OLDAKER family has been quite extensively researched - by others, not me !
Specifically, if you check out the message posted 24 April 2000 by Marilyn STORMS it will link into your family, I believe. There are many, especially Canadian, cousins out there with much fuller knowledge than me. Mine is more limited to George Frederick's second marriage (to Louisa LUDBROOK). This latter branch stayed in the UK almost exclusively, so is easier to follow here. By contrast, his family from his third marriage mostly seems to have emigrated to Canada around 1907 and is the source of the rich seam of OLDAKERS over there.
Hope this helps a little and perhaps a Canadian descendant listening out there can help you more than I can ! ?
Should you nevertheless wish to contact me directly, feel free to email me at [email protected] .
Cannot answer all the questions but what I have is :
1) Louisa LUDBROOK born Stradbroke, Suffolk, England, 20 April 1839, to Daniel LUDBROOK, miller, and Mary (nee MORTIMER).
2) Louisa OLDAKER died 03 May 1885 of tubercular meningitis, at 44 Walford Road, South Hornsey, aged 44 (sic). Wife of George Frederick OLDAKER, accountant. Informant was M. N. OLDAKER of same address. Do not know where she was buried.
I do not have the other details you seek but I would like them myself. If someone could oblige here perhaps ... ?

I am descended from miller Daniel LUDBROOK of Framlingham, Suffolk. According to family information his daughter Susannah LUDBROOK was the first wife of George Frederick OLDAKER. Following Susannah's death George OLDAKER married her younger sister Louisa LUDBROOK.
Bit late this. Only just seen the postings. My information is that George Frederick OLDAKER was actually married 3 times (not 2) - unless there was more than one around at the time.
His first wife's name I forget. I am sure it is in the Oldaker Records somewhere but I just do not recall her.
His second wife was Louisa LUDBROOK, (of Framlingham, Suffolk, dau. of Daniel LUDBROOK, a miller). They were married at the Islington Register Office on 10 August 1861. George Frederick gave his condition as 'Widower' and his address was 25, Englefield Road West. George was aged 25 and Louisa 22.
There were a few children from this marriage :
Edith (b. c1863)
Louis Frederick (b. 1864)
Martin W. (b. c1867)
Louisa M. (b. c1870.
This is not necessarily exhaustive but they were there in the 1871 and 1881 census returns, wherein George declared himself born in Fladbury.
Louisa OLDAKER died of TB on 03 May 1883 in Hornsey.
George Frederick then married Emmeline SWEENEY in 1885 I believe; his third marriage thus and there were children resulting. From the discussions on this board, it seems that this last marriage was the source of the majority of his descendants.
Louis Frederick, George's son, was my wife's great-grandfather. Family recall gives Louis Frederick as disappearing off to Canada in the 1890s but returning some time much later and he died in London in 1942.
I note that some of you have family photos featuring George Frederick and I would be very grateful if someone could scan and email me a copy. We have no OLDAKER photos from before 1900 at all.
Hello Doug,
Thanks for your reply. My great grandfather is George Frederick, married to Emmeline Paget Sweeny. Immigrated to Canada in 1906. My grandmother was Bessie Oldaker-Gibson, second youngest of their 8 children. (My mother, Eileen Gibson-Arnott-Eby was adopted by Ruth Oldaker-Arnott (a sister of Bessie's). There are alot of descendants, most of them lived in Canada, although there are a number in the U.S. now and one first cousin, Linda Gibson-Langford living in Australia, along with her 2 sons.
I an hoping to set up a website of our line, along with photos, that can be added to as time goes on. Are you interested in receiving a list of George and Emmeline's descendants? You can e-mail me directly if you wish.
