Howdy! My name is Jeffrey J. Olin. I am the editor of the Olin Family Society (OFS) newsletter, The OLINews. Our family society was founded in 1992 for the descendants of John (~1664-1742) and Susannah (1680-?) (SPENCER) Olin, of the Colony of Rhode Island. This Olin family is by far the oldest and largest Olin family in North America. The few other Olins I have discovered in North America are of Jewish (Ukranian, I believe) and Swedish (concentrated mostly in the upper-Midwest region of the United States) origin, and both groups came over in the mid-19th Century. We have a rather decent website, olinfamilysociety.org prepared by my seventh cousin (once removed), Tom Olin, the OFS genealogist. I have been rambling on because I have two potential candidates for you. Now, I know nothing about these guys, but I searched through the 23 Williams from the first 6 generations of my Olin family, and these were the best candidates: 1. http://www.olinfamilysociety.org/webcards/wc12/wc12_485.htmlhttp://www.olinfamilysociety.org/webcards/wc12/wc12_485.html 2. http://www.olinfamilysociety.org/webcards/wc11/wc11_053.htmlhttp://www.olinfamilysociety.org/webcards/wc11/wc11_053.html btw... 22 Marys, 2 Mary Anns, an Ann Maria, 11 Ann/Anne/Annas, 23 Johns, 7 Giles, & even 2 Charlottes. Other known variations on the surname are Olan (a distinctly Canadian branch of the clan, very cool), Olden, and Olen. I hope we can add Ohlin. Please let me know if you think we have a winner. Good luck! Peace, Jeff Olin ps. Do you live in Australia?
