Thnaks for your inquiry, Carol. I am actually trying to trace two, possibly three Olivares families. (long story follows)
It goes something like this: My paternal grandmother Was Sidelia Orosco. Her cousin, Ignacio Orosco Sr. married Isabel Flores Olivares (1913-1991) daughter of Zacarias Garcia Olivares and Margarita Rochle Flores (born 1875 ,married Nov 1, 1899) Zacarias was the son of Jose Zacarias Olivares and Patricia Garcia. Parents of Jose Zacarias were Jose Rafael de Olivares and Maria de Jesus Farias, married in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
Jose Rafael was the son of Jose Francisco Longoria de Olivares and Maria Josefa de la Garza Garcia (married Mar 11, 1792) Jose Francisco was the son of Thomas Joseph de Olivares (born in Cerralvo and died in Camargo) and Maria Estefana Longoria. They also had at least two more children, Maria Gertrudis Olivares (whose line I have also followed into South and central Texas)and Alejandro de Olivares.
Parents of Jose Francisco were Blas de olivares and Maria Ramona de Escandon.Blas de Olivares was the son of Bartolome de Olivares and Maria Sepulveda de Benavides. Parents of Bartolome were Juan de Olivares and Maria Trevino de Ayala. Juan de Olivares was the son of Diego de Olivares, born sometime around 1547,somwhere in Spain. Of course , there were other siblings along these generations. Some of the later Olivares were born in Mier, Camrgo and then in Rio Grande city and then on up south Texas.
My maternal Grandfather was Jose Angel Olivares, born in 1868 in Wilson county, Texas and married my grandmother Maria Antonia Tejeda around 1894 in Wilson county. Jose Angel's father was Secundino Olivares who married Maria del Pilar Enriquez in 1853 in San Antonio,Texas. Secundino, according to uncertain census data was born around 1830, possibly in Mexico, but I am not sure. He died probably before 1880. I don't know his parents or if he had any siblings, that is my problem. I too have found several Secundino Olivares in Mexico, but can't be sure if one of them is my great-great grandfather until I find more info. Maria del Pilar Enriquez was born in Lampazos de Naranjo in nuevo Leon, daughter of Rafael Enriquez and Maria Gertrudis Losano. I will keep looking.
Third Olivares line ( I know this is a long story) Alejandro Olivares (b jan 1866 in Cadereyta, NL Mexico Married Tomas Duran in Cadereyta. Their Daughter Elena Soledad Olivares married Manuel Montalvo Quintanilla (from Cadereyta and Monterrey) in San Antonio, Texas in Jan 1911. My interest is that Manuel Montalvo Quintanilla is the son of Rosario Montalvo Cavazos, my wife's grandfather. Rosario Montalvo traces back to Juan de Montalvo (born 1604) in Monterrey whose sons were among the founding families of Cadereyta Jimenez Nuevo Leon in 1637/38.
Too much information already, but..If you want to exchange more information please write directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. I am very much interested in connecting, if I can, Secundino to those Olivares that came from Nuevo Leon, then to Tamualipas, than to the South Texas border and on up. I am also trying to find the ancestors of Sister Juana Olivares Villescas, SSCJ, currently in San Antonio, but from Edinburgh, Texas, whose grandfather was Tiburcio Olivares.
