I reviewed some posts about Oliver family in Grainger County, Tennessee and wonder if our Liza/Eliza Oliver born about 1833 in Tennessee could be the older sister of a John Oliver born 1835 in Tennessee?
Liza Oliver born about 1833 in Tennessee married Elisha Holland born about 1815 in Tennessee
Liza & Elisha Holland had at least one child: Emeline Holland born 20 May 1849/50 some records say 1849 some 1850. Emeline Holland married Eligah Diltha Dalton 9 September 1876 Bean Station, Grainger Co., Tennessee. They had 9 children.
According to William Crouch Emeline Holland "Left her mothers home on the north side of Clinch Mountain, TN., and went to the south side of the Mountain to live with Judge John Shields and family at Bean Station. She met her husband Eliga Dalton there. He had been living and working with the James Gill family at Bean Station. "After marriage, Eliga and Emeline lived on the Gill farm at Bean Station Tn. for 21 years, where nine children were born. Eliga then bought a farm of his own in Bean Station Valley. Eight of the nine children moved to the new farm. Eliza had met Samuel Henry while Sam and his brother Will and Will's wife Josephine were visiting Eliza's parents for the Christmas holidays. Eliga later sold his farm at Bean Station and took his family, except Eliza, to West Plains, Missouri. The son Jim remained with the family for about a year, then returned to Tate Springs Tn., where his sister, Eliza Henry was living. Again Eliga and his family, left West Plains, and settled in Sevier County for about three years. They then removed to Graveston Tennessee, where they bought a small farm at the Knox and Union County line. Eliga and Emeline remained there until their deaths. Both are buried at the Graveston Cemetery." William Crouch.
Thank you for any connections to Liza Oliver and Elisha Holland.
