Olliff-Perkins from England (PBS series)
There is one primary line with the surname spelling of "Olliff." This line is the John Olliff line who died in Bulloch County, GA. A second line, smaller line, came from England to west Texas and does not appear to be related - unless related back in England. There are also a lot of very early "Oliff" families in Virginia. The descendants of John Olliff (Bulloch County, GA) are related to either the VA "Oliff" line or "Olliff" lines in England (as the TX line originated).
The recent PBS series, "Manor House," has a very good series that is being shown now.It is kind of a History "reality" show.Several hundred are participating and 20 or 30 are actually living in a large mansion with the caveat that they must all live according to ca. 1900 customs.Of course the servants are finding out how rough and unappreciated some of our ancestors jobs were. The head of the household is John Olliff-Perkins (he has the best job of course).Anyone know the ancestry of his line for a possible connection to our line ?
I published a book, "Olliff Family History" in 1992 which has over half of all the descendants of John Shears Olliff that have the surname Olliff. Also, I have a web site that greatly expands the 1992 book. Additional input is always welcomed. There is a lot of new information on the family of Johannah Jackson that has been added lately.
