O'Malley & Connellys from Galway (Island of Gurumna)
I'm researching my grandparents & great grandparents. My grandfather was John O'Malley from the village of Deirin Darach, Galway, on the Island of Gorumna. My grandmother was Bridget Connelly from the village of Tiernee, Galway, on the Island of Gorumna. John O'Malley's parents were Mathias O'Malley and Bridget McDonough. Bridget Connelly's parents were Patrick Connelly and Mary Hernon.
Bridget Connelly was one of 12 children. I do remember her brother, Tom Connelly who lived near Boston. She had one sister who married a Whalen who had 4 sons, Patrick from Rossaveel, Father Coleman from Leitir Móir (Lettermore), Tom from Rossaveel and John who lived in London.
John O'Malley and Bridget Connelly were married in 1904 and lived in South Boston. They had 5 children, Patrick, Bridget, Mathias, MaryEllen and John. In my research I have seen my grandmother's name spelled Connelly (on her marriage certificate) Conley, Connelley and Connolly.
I have a family tree website with information and pictures (http://bomalley.homestead.com/files/OMalley_history/OMalley_History.html).
I am trying to find out my grandparents birth dates and any information about their siblings. I sent applications to the Office of the Registrar in Roscommon and they were not able to find the birth records for my grandparents. I estimate John O’Malley and Bridget Connelly were born in the late 1870's to early 1880's.
thank youBob O'Malley
