Hi,
I, too, am a descendent of the Isaac Ong of your Version #2.I believe that version to be correct, as it matches the account given in THE ONG FAMILY OF AMERICA, published in Ohio in 1906 by Dr. Albert R. Ong, who had spent 20 years researching that branch of his family.
According to Albert Ong, Isaac was married twice. His first wife was Mary Underwood, dau. of Joseph, who apparently did not live long.Isaac then married Sarah, and his will makes reference to Sarah and her son, Jacob.
There is confusion over the father of the three young sons who immigrated to America with their mother, Frances Ong, arriving here in 1631 from Lavenham, Suffolk Co., England. The real father of Simon, Jacob, and Isaac was Edmond Ong, who died in June 1630.Six months later, on 1 Dec 1630, Frances Ong departed for America with a new husband, Francis Ong.The records from their ship, the LYON, as well as in Boston, assume that Francis, rather than Edmond, was the father of the boys, but such was not the case. Some months ago, I hired a researcher in England to look into Edmond and Frances's history in Lavenham.I would be glad to share his results when I hear from him, if you would be interested.
Albert Ong has your Sarah Ong married to Edward Andrews on 8 Feb. 1694.
