The Orf geneolgies in the US are an interesting patchwork of immigration.
The largest group of close related Orf's
are descendants of the 5 brothers whose
father died in Eisenach Germany. The brothers immigrated along with 3 sisters and
their mother now married to a Heller in
1840/41.The second oldest brother Joseph
Bastien Orf was my Great Great Grandfather.
I do have good geneolgies of the descendants
of three of the brothers Johanne, Joseph
and Ludwig. But of the other two Carl and
Georg I have nothing.
Clarence Orf of Oklahoma does not fit any
pattern that I have.I do have a distant
cousin Ray Orf who lives and raised his
family in Oklahoma but no Clarence.
I also have genologies of other Orf lines
that go back into 17th century Germany and
immigrated to the US independently and have
no knowledge of each other or my Orf lines.
There appears to have been various Orf's
that immigrated at various times and have
no knowledge of the other families and no
close relationship.Some were Lutheran and
others like my family were Catholic. All from what became East Germany. The only
Austian connection I have found is the
large radio and TV complex call ORF.
