When looking for ancestors of the names Osburn or Orsburn don't overlook the spellings of Osborn, Osbern, Orsborn, Ausburn, etc.Remember the records you are looking at were written in that period & if the writer didn't close the "o" the name became Osburn etc.As an example my familycame from Ireland & adopted the spelling of Orsborn in lieu of the original of Ausburn. We don't why the change. Our name became Osborn for sometime, but certain branches of the family reinserted the "r" later. Perhaps that explains the "r" in your line. To verify this point my gt2 grandfather James used the name Ausburn in the 1870 IA census, probably in protest of the way the census takers were writing his name.Thank you for listening.
