One thing that should be pointed out here and even I forget to mention this sometimes when discussing the origin of the name Osborn -- common people didn't begin to use surnames in England until far after the Viking and Norman invasions. When commoners did start using surnames, they could be pretty much randomly chosen. So there is really no reason to suppose that any particular Osborn/Osburn family line is of Viking or Norman origin unless you actually can trace your own Osborn family back to a Viking or Norman.
