I have been looking for the San Francisco O'sheas for many years with little luck. My great-grandfather was first generation O'shea in the US...his name was Jeremiah O'shea. I believe his father's name (my great great) was Cornelius. There is a chance that he and his father came from County Cork, but I am not sure. What I do know is that Jeremiah started as a saloon owner, and then branched out into draying. He owned several stables and evidently ran quite a successful business. He married and had 4 children...James was the oldest and was my grandfather. There was also Irving, Frank and May. Jeremiah became involved in San Francisco politics and as such was a pal of Mayor Rolph. The mayor appointed Jeremiah head contractor for all the hauling business when the NEW CITY HALL was to be built to replace theone that had collapsed during the earth quake of '06. Jeremiah died on NewYears day 1916. Mary, mother to all of his children, died in 1896. They are buried at Holy Cross catholic Cemetary in Colma. He subsequently remarried and his wife at his death was named Helen. I have no idea whether Jermemiah had siblings, what his parents names were and where they lived, I don't know when Jermemiah came over...basically all I really know is his san Francisco life.According to the 1890 California Register of voters, he was born in 1860, was naturalized (no dates given) and, in 1890 lived at 1160 Folsom. When he died, he was living at 2201 17th St. If there is anyone out there who thinks this information is familiar, please write and let me know. I have about given up on this search....Ifyou check the archives, you'll see that I have been searching on this list for about 6 or 7 years!
