I'm pulling some stuff together, in my recent divorce I find myself with more time on my hands than I am used to, and I have always been interested in finding out more about my past.
I have not heard of that book and I would have to go digging through my things to find the books my grandfather gave me. The gist of the Story as I know it was Juan Maria Osuna was granted 10,000 acres of land by the Spanish when he came over here, those 10,000 acres were called Rancho San Dieguito if you go down to San Diego this name still exists in many places. The land did eventually become Rancho Santa Fe. There is the old Jaun Maria Rancho still down there that has had ownership including Bing Crosby. This is most of what I can remember at work off the top of my head =) I know the family land was lost piece by piece do to drought and gambling debts, alchoholism as well. Which still runs strong in my family (luckily I was missed).
That is the synopsis, but I am very excited I just contacted my mom and asked her for some names and she told me that my grandfather wrote a history about himself before he died. She is bringing it to me this evening, I hope it is chocked full of names that will help me and hopefully some others in there search.Osuna is not a very common name, I am sure that somewhere along the lines that we are all related somehow.
