I am a descendant of George and Hannah Hunter Overly of Defiance Co.I believe, but have no proof, that George b. 1819 and Mary b. 1829 were siblings.I have quite a bit of information on George's line that I am very willing to share. My information on Mary Overly Garver's family is limited to what was published in the 1883 History of Defiance County. My GEDCOM file is posted on Rootsweb at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=smithtmhttp://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=smithtm.
One thing that you may be interested in is that I have a pocket watch engraved "John Garver" that was my great-grandfather's.Harrison Coe Smith was married to Bertha Overly, a granddaughter of George. The story that has been passed down is that Coe traded a horse for the watch.A dent in the case is said to have come from the watch having been stepped on by a horse. Based on comparative ages, I have always assumed that the previous owner was John, the son of John and Mary Overly Garver.
