I am also researching the Owers family and have found the following which may be of interest : Abraham Owers baptised St Mary the Virgin, Great Leighs, Essex, May 24 1814 son of Abraham and Elizabeth.
Abraham Owers married Elizabeth Dawson Sept 22 1798 at Great Bardfield,Essex. From the Parish records for Great Leighs the had the following children baptised : 1804 Elizabeth1806 Harriet 1809 William1811 Hepzibah 1814 Abraham1816 Mary Ann 1819 James1822 Susanna Abraham senior died and was buried Oct 21 1857 age 85 at Great Leighs the register notes from the Union Workhouse, Chelmsford. Elizabeth died and was burried at Great Leighs Oct 30 1842 age 66.
Abraham senior was possibly born May 28, baptised Jun 11 1780 at St Peter and St Paul, Bardfield Saling/Little Saling, Essex son of John and Elizabeth Owers.
John Owers married Elizabeth Boreham Mar 22 1770 at St James the Great, Great Saling, Essex. From the parish registers Bardfield Saling/Little Saling they had the following children baptised : 1770 John1772 James 1775 Clement1777 Elizabeth 1780 Abraham1783 Sarah 1786 Charlotte1789 Susanna 1792 William
There are earlier Abraham Owers' recorded at Bardfield Saling/Little Saling and as it is not a common name these are bound to be related:
1706 Abraham son of Abraham and Elizabeth Owers baptised 1760 Abraham Owers buried. 1770 Abraham Owers age 25 son of Widow Owers buried.
As yet I have some gaps in the records and cannot connect these up.
The Owers we are connected to were living in Black Notley, Essex at around the same time as the later Abraham and Elizabeth's family so were possibly cousins.
Your information for Abraham and William is very intersting as it explains why I couldn't find any information in the Census for Abraham at all (The UK census starts in 1841)and brother William does not appear in the 1851 Census.I hope this is helpful.
