William Pace who moved with his family to Ten about 1800 has been very well researched and documented in the Pace Society Bulletin. Many believe this is the William Pace who married Sicely Walker of Halifax Co. NC in 1772. He is also believed to be the same William who witnessed land sales adjacent Richard Pace's andJohn Pace's land just a few miles away from Sicely Walker's home. Progeny of William Pace found in Ten. in 1800 have been found to be in the 3b group of the Pace DNA study. Do the names found used by William's progeny fit any of the Walker family or Paces in Edgecombe Co NC?

Joel Pace- Name fits the Walkers Joel was a name used by the Walkers through the generations. Sicely's brother was named Joel.
Hardy Pace- Name fits Walkers Hardy Cain was thought to be married to a Walker and lived very close to where the Paces moved in Edgecombe Co.
John R Pace- Name fits Paces John Pace lived close to Richard Pace in Edgecombe Co..
Sarah Pace- Name fits the Paces John Paces wife was named Sarah
*Henning Pace- Names fits Walkers Henning maybe a offshoot of the names Jennings At that time both J and I were written the same and the pronunciation of the J in the name might have been as an H. Jennings Hackney is thought to have married Callie Walker, sister of Sicely.
Cally Pace- Name fits Walker family Cally was the name of Sicely's sister.
William Hardy Pace- Name fits both families. see above John Pace's son
Sicely W Pace Name fits the Walker family Sicely (Walker)Pace was her grandmother.
William Pace - Name fits both families see above Henning's son
Cassie Cain Pace- Name fits Walker family Cassie is a name used by Sicely (Walker) Pace's niece and possibly by a sister. A sister was likely married to Hardy Cain.
Westly Walker Pace- Name fits Walker family Westly's great grandmother was Sicely Walker
Cicily Pace - Name fits Walker family Cicley's grand father was Henning, mother Sicely.
Sicily Pace- Name fits Walker family. Sicily's grand father was Henning, mother Martha.
William Hackney Pace- Name fits both families. see above. Sicely (Walker) Pace's nephew was William Hackney mentioned in her father's will.
Names can never be proof positive of relationships, however they can be considered good circumstantial evidence. The names of Westly Walker Pace, Cassie Cain Pace, Sicely W Pace, and William Hackney Pace provide an especially strong case for this family being part of the Pace Family who lived in Edgecombe Co NC in the 1760s until the early 70s. If this is so then the other Paces who lived there at that time were also likely in the 3b group of the Pace DNA study. This may be born out by the fact that the progeny of John and Sarah of Surry Co. are in the 3b group, and supports the claim that they are the same John and Sarah who sold their land in Edgecombe in 1772/73.
