Yes - I remember us talking. It was a total stroke of luck I found out my Pacellis were from this region. Now that I know, I'm convinced there are lots of connections here in the U.S. But I still can't find anything specific!
Funny you mention the "bookie" joint in the back of a barbershop. I know a bunch of my Pacellis were barbers, but also have an aunt who recalls one of her relatives (she swears it was an "Uncle Frank" with very white hair and walked with a cane) came to visit my grandparents back in the 1930s while they lived (probably on Cornelia St. in Brooklyn) and was not welcome in their house. There's always been some mystery about this side of the family - perhaps my grandfather never wanted to reveal this aspect. I also heard one of his relatives either owned a grocery store or a fruitstand. I know for at least some of the time the barbershop was on Myrtle Ave. in Brooklyn.
I'm not all that adept at contacting churches in Italy. Sorry to hear you did not hear anything when you tried. I feel like it should be a lot easier to find Pacelli's here in the U.S. but so far it has been quite frustrating. Let's keep in touch.
