Ancestral File submission, Family Search, has Reuben Paddock, father of Ebenezer Paddock, listed in Pedigree as son of Judah Paddock and Alice Alden,Yarmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts, which extends a Mayflower family John Alden and Priscilla Mullens.)Extensive professional research for Virginia Paddock, Santa Barbara, California has yielded no proof of this connection.
At least one nicely bound Paddock book, Family History Library, SL, claims this Mayflower connection, but no proof cited. The Reuben Paddock of Barnstable, Massachusetts has a birth date almost 10 years different from Reuben Paddock, w. Rebecca Hand, who was father to Ebenezer Paddock d. ,Vigo, Indiana. No proof as to how or why Reuben of Barnstable, or Ebenezer, would show up in Kentucky, with no family tradition of connection to Massachussets. He could have hied off in one of the family whaling vessels; no proof. The Paddock's of Barnstable, Massachusetts were well established in the area, no doubt well educated for the time, and probably justly proud ofMayflower connection. The records of the Paddocks in Kentucky show no Massachusetts refinement, let alone connection. In Kentucky the name is often spelled Paddax, Pattix, etc.In spite of this I am happy to claim connection to the Paddocks of Kentucky and Indiana. Always looking for proof to connect to Paddock's of Barnstable, Massachusetts.Keziah's mother: Marcy or Mary Osman.
