Thanks so much for responding! Wow -- I'd not visited this site in YEARS and had forgotten all about my post! Anyway...
In my initial post I mentioned wanting to know about the Padans (it's actually spelled Padan in many of the local historical phone directories) due to it possibly being included on the home tour that our preservation group holds every other year. Well, we eventually did not include it on the tour as it was (and still is) being used as a multi-unit residence. The current owner does not appreciate its significance and has neglected it for some years -- at least in the interior and has tried to sell it numerous times. Since it's not protected by any Historic Landmark designations, our fear is that whoever buys it will simply tear it down to build apartments or condos.
We would still like to get as much background info on the home as possible to use as justification for saving it. The fact that Franklin was one of the county's first District Attorneys and his father-in-law a Supervisor, might sway our local politicians.
As an aside, I know the elderly next door neighbors quite well (one 92, the other 86 -- both who are still quite with it) and they once told me that they use to have contact with one of the daughters who lives out near Apple Valley (I think). They gave me her phone number and I remember calling but did not receive a return call.
I have several interior photos of the home when it had a For Rent sign (i pretended to be a prospective renter) and many of the original details remain albeit in poorly maintained condition which I can send to you in a private email. My email address is oa1808 (at) earthlink dot net. You will receive a Spam filter message but I'll allow your address once it comes in.
