Pam,I believe the name Päch or Päech derives from 'Pächter' meaning a person who uses land that does not belong to them ie: a tenant farmer. If it was just PECH, which it is sometimes rendered, it could mean 'Bad Luck." This information is courtesy of Renata Jurgen, Holy Triinty Lutheran Archives, Melbourne, Victoria Australia.
An August Päech married August Luise Jäckel in Melbourne in 1867. They had ten children who now spell their name PECK.
